HIV/AIDS Program (MWENDO & CASE-OVC)

The program fosters behavior changes among the youth and children. It also offers psycho-social support for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDs.

Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) are assisted to access basic needs through referrals and linkages to quality service providers.

The infected, affected and respective caregivers of the OVC are also assisted to improve their livelihoods through household economic strengthening initiatives. Over 33,000 OVC are benefiting from these interventions. The Programme engages over 500 community Health Volunteers using the Case Management approach.

The current goal of the program is to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and mitigate the negative impact on Pumwani community.

In summary, the program’s strategies focus on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support for those infected and affected including Orphans and vulnerable children, advocacy, and provision of psychosocial support.
