About Tumikia Mtoto Project

St John’s Community Centre (SJCC) was sub-awarded by USAID and through World Vision Kenya to implement 5 years USAID Tumikia Mtoto Project targeting 27,527 Orphans and Vulnerable children and 6,103 AGYW to be reached with a defined package of services in Nairobi City and Kiambu Counties. In Nairobi the Project targets 20,527 OVC and their households and 3,926 AGYW.

The sub counties covered by Nairobi City County are Kamukunji, Starehe, Makadara, Embakasi Central and Embakasi West. In Kiambu the Project targets 6,773 OVC and their households and 2,177 AGYW. The sub counties covered by Kiambu are Kabete, Kiambaa, Kiambu and Kikuyu The project supports healthy, Safe, Stable and schooled domains.These will be achieved through:

Increased access to targeted HIV prevention services among AGYW and male sex partners; Increased targeted services for HIV exposed infected and affected OVC; Increased economic stability of households to care for and protect OVC, and Strengthened the capacity of community systems and structures to support OVC services.

 

SJCC Tumikia Mtoto will use case management approach to inform on service provision. SJCC is working with a team of staff members and community cadres (Case Workers, Community Mentor Mothers, Community Based Trainers and Girls Mentors. They are very instrumental on successful implementation of the project. SJCC is also working in collaboration with likeminded partners and stakeholders.  SJCC Tumikia Mtoto Project takes a holistic, child-focused, family-centered, and community-based approach that ensures the child’s well-being within the household’s well-being.
