USAID 4BetterHealth Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The USAID 4BetterHealth Project is a five-year PEPFAR USAID-funded initiative with St. John’s Community Centre (SJCC) serving as the primary partner and overall lead in a consortium of five partners. The overarching goal is to enhance the quality of life for at least 51,241 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families residing in more than 17,080 households across six counties in Kenya. This improvement is to be achieved by facilitating greater access to and uptake of high-quality health and social services.

The project specifically focuses on OVC affected or infected by HIV/AIDS as a service delivery activity. The primary objective is to enhance the quality of life for OVC and their families by ensuring increased access to and utilization of high-quality health and social services.

Sub Purpose 3.1

Increase targeted Services for HIV Exposed, Infected, and Affected OVC.

Sub Purpose 3.2

Increase Economic Stability of Households to Care and Protect OVC.

Sub Purpose 3.3

Strengthening Capacity of Local Systems and Structures to Support OVC Services.

The program implements interventions designed to ensure that OVC are and remain healthy, safe, and educated and that their households achieve economic stability. The consortium program brings together seven implementing partners, including USAID as the funding agency, St. John’s Community Centre as the prime partner, and additional partners such as Global Communities, AMURT, ADS Mount Kenya, ADS Eastern, ADS Nairobi-All Saints and Kajiado (NAIKA), and ADS Central Rift as implementing agencies.

To enhance effectiveness and sustainability, the program actively leverages new and existing partnerships and connections with stakeholders, including county and national governments, peer organizations, and both private and public sectors. Capacity building and mentorship initiatives for duty bearers and relevant structures and systems are also integral components aimed at enhancing the overall success of the program.
